Portable System SPPortA2

The portable system SPPortA2 from Spectrum is a symbiosis of a standard PC and a Laptop allowing to integrate one or two of the fast Spectrum PC instruments. With this the system is an easy to handle alternative to a Laptop/Docking Station solution without the need to carry and connect several components (Laptop, Docking Station, Power Supplies) at the place of action.

As a base the system is equipped with a 15” TFT display, a state-of-the-art Core2Duo CPU, 2 GByte of memory and Windows XP Professional to fulfil all demands of today’s mobile applications. As an option a battery pack can be ordered to use the complete system independent of the availability of a power supply.

All hardware and software is completely installed - the system can be immediately used directly after starting. All PC instruments have been calibrated inside the system resulting in an even higher accuracy compared to single cards that are installed in an user PC.

Individual Systems

Spectrum is also able to offer you a complete configured system. That contains a fully installed and tested system with optimised hardware and software for you. As a result incompatibility between single components is impossible, sufficient cooling power for the boards is guaranteed and software is installed - the system is ready to start.

We do not sell standard systems but together with you we generate a system for your special needs. For these applications we offer a wide variety of different systems:

• Individual designed standard systems with additional cooling
• 19" industrial systems with up to 20 free slots
• Portable systems for mobile use
• CompactPCI 6U based systems with extra low height
• PXI systems
• Special RAID systems for ultra-fast disk streaming.

The internal synchronisation allows to build up systems with up to 128 analog channels. Of course it’s also possible to set up mixed-mode systems with analog and digital inputs and analog and digital outputs.

19" Industrial PC Systems

Due to the internal sync bus of the Spectrum boards the construction of synchronous multi channel systems with free definable trigger channel is no problem. However: often a standard system with normally three free PCI slots has not enough space. For this Spectrum offers a series of individual complete systems based on 19". Extension is possible, our used 19" systems are based on the newest backplanes with PCI-to-PCI bridge chips and about 13 to 20 free PCI slots in full length. This offers besides the measuring products enough space for further functionality like Ethernet, DSP, GPIB interface and much more.

Using boards in this high-end area will produce a lot of heat. A system with 20 channels running at 100 MS/s samplerate (5 pieces of MI.2031) will produce power dissipation of about 100 watts. To manage this values, these robust industrial systems are equipped with powerful cooling fans.
