Resolution and input rangeThe resolution of the A/D converter or D/A converter defines together with the selected input range the smallest voltage difference (voltage step) that could be recognized with this type of board. Compared to a 8 bit converter that is found in standard Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, the resolution of 12 bit is 16 times higher, the resolution of 14 bit is 64 times higher and the resolution of 16 bit is 256 times higher.
